Gongju Sanseong Market 공주산성시장
Gongju · Gongsanseong & Jemincheon Old Town · Shopping

This is the largest traditional market in Gongju, on the north side of the old town, and it suits both a quick snack and a longer browse. Aisles of vegetables, fish, side dishes and rice cakes are typical of a Korean provincial market, but the local specialty is the chestnut, which turns up peeled, roasted, steamed, baked into bread and fermented into drinks. Small restaurants inside serve gukbap, sundae sausage and noodle soups at low prices, which makes the market a handy first meal after the bus.
Stalls shut earlier in the afternoon, so go before about 4 pm if you plan to shop.
It sits in front of the Sanseong Market bus stop, and a public parking tower stands next door. From the intercity bus terminal, a city bus takes roughly ten minutes. (Show a driver: 공주산성시장)
