Jinjeonsa Temple Site Three-Story Pagoda — Yangyang Naksan & Mulchi
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

This graceful three-story pagoda is all that remains standing of Jinjeonsa, a temple linked to the early days of Seon Buddhism in Korea, and it is designated a National Treasure. It stands in open farmland with Seoraksan behind it, which makes the setting more memorable than the monument itself. Look closely at the reliefs on the base and body, which show guardian figures and celestial beings carved with surprising softness.

There is no ticket office and no crowd; you can walk up, read the signboards and sit for a while. A visit takes under an hour and suits history fans who like quiet places.

Getting there

It is an easy drive from Yangyang town toward the Seoraksan foothills, following brown heritage signs to the site. Public transport is rare, so use a car or taxi. (Show a driver: 진전사지 삼층석탑)

Best time to visit
Weekday mornings are peaceful, and autumn foliage frames the pagoda beautifully.
Pair it with
Naksansa Temple is about ten minutes away by car, and Naksan Jeonbuk Paldo Sikdang nearby serves fish stews for lunch.
Great for
Parents, Solo travelers
Local tip
A National Treasure Silla pagoda stands among fields at the foot of Seoraksan. Read the signboard first; the carving on the base and body is easier to spot.
