Seorak Beach 설악해변

Seorak Beach is a short drive north of Naksan and gets far fewer day trippers. The sand is broad, and on a clear day the Seoraksan ridgeline stands behind the town. Several surf shops sit in the lanes behind the beach, so this is a gentle place to watch beginners paddle out or to book a first lesson.

Mornings are usually calmer than afternoons. There is little to do beyond walking, sitting and looking at the water, which is exactly the appeal. Bring your own water and snacks if you plan a long stay, as the shops are limited, and keep dogs on a leash if you bring one, since leashed pets are generally tolerated outside swimming season.

Getting there

By car it is about five minutes north of Naksan Beach along the coastal road; park in the lanes near the beach. Bus service is limited, so a taxi from Naksan is practical. (Show a driver: 설악해변)

Best time to visit
Early morning has the calmest water; late afternoon gives long light on the sand.
Pair it with
Beombaui Makguksu is a good meal stop nearby, and Baedaview Bakery (Bada View Jebbangso) offers a sea-view coffee break.
Great for
Friends, Solo travelers
Local tip
A quieter sand beach than Naksan, with surf shops tucked into lanes behind it. On big-wave days it is safer to watch than to swim.
