Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve 순천만습지
Suncheon · Suncheon Bay Wetland & National Garden · Parks & nature

This is one of Korea's best-known coastal wetlands, where a river meets the sea and tidal mud blends into reed beds that cover several square kilometers. A raised boardwalk winds through the reeds, so you can look over the mud without sinking into it. At low tide, mudskippers flick across the surface and small crabs duck into burrows, and signboards along the route explain who lives where.
The reeds turn gold in autumn, and in winter hooded cranes and other migratory birds arrive, so keep to the marked paths and speak softly. Pets are not allowed. The main loop is an easy hour and a half on foot.
From Suncheon Station, a city bus toward Suncheon Bay (route 67 when last checked, so confirm at the station information desk) takes 30 to 40 minutes, and a taxi about 20 to 25 minutes. Drivers can use the large car park at the entrance. (Show a driver: 순천만습지)
