This is the viewpoint on every poster of Suncheon Bay. From the deck you look down on a river channel that curves in a big S through the reed beds, glowing orange as the sun drops. The climb from the trailhead takes about 20 minutes on a mix of earth and wooden steps, and the path may be easier or longer depending on where you start, so confirm at the wetland ticket office.

The deck is small and prime railing spots fill up early on clear evenings. After dark the way down is unlit, so a phone flashlight is a must. Pets, strollers and wheelchairs are not suited to the climb.

In summer, expect mosquitoes and a hot, humid ascent.

Getting there

Most drivers use a dedicated parking area near the trailhead, and a taxi from Suncheon Station takes around 30 minutes. On foot from the wetland entrance it is a longer hike, so check the route first. (Show a driver: 용산전망대)
