Wolhwa Street 월화거리
Gangneung · Downtown & Jungang Market · Sights
The old rail tracks that once carried trains through the middle of Gangneung have been converted into a long, narrow strip of walkways, planters and benches. Lights run along it, and after dark the park takes on a soft glow that pairs well with a market-snack dinner. Little shops and food stalls line parts of it.
There is no admission fee and no schedule, so it works as a casual end to a downtown day. It will not take long to cover, so combine it with the markets and the alleys nearby. Facilities are limited to benches and public toilets.
It is a ten-minute taxi ride from Gangneung Station (강릉역), or a pleasant walk. The strip is steps from Jungang Market.
