Sigyeongjeong Pavilion 식영정
Damyang · Soswaewon, Sigyeongjeong & Gasa Literature District · Sights

This pavilion is known as the place where Jeong Cheol composed Seongsan Byeolgok, a classic work of Gasa literature, and it was named by the scholar Im Eok-ryeong. It stands above a bend in Gwangju Lake, with old trees around it. Visitors enjoy the sense of history and the view, and the evening light is especially pleasant.
The ground is a short walk uphill from the car park, with stone steps. Entry is free. Plan about 40 minutes.
A signboard gives some context, mainly in Korean. Take your shoes off before stepping onto the pavilion floor and avoid noise.
Drive about 25 minutes from Damyang town and park in the Gasa Literature district lot, a short walk to the pavilion. (Show a driver: 식영정)
