Bangjja Yugi Museum 방짜유기박물관
Daegu · Palgongsan & Dongchon · Museums & exhibits

Bangjja yugi is traditional Korean brassware hammered by hand from copper and tin, prized for keeping food fresh and warm. This free museum on the road toward Donghwasa shows how bowls, spoons and ceremonial vessels are cast, hammered and polished, with old pieces from different eras and videos of craftsmen at work. Displays are labeled mostly in Korean, so images do the talking.
The visit is short and easy, with a spacious lot, and the surrounding hills color beautifully in autumn. It makes a calm pairing with a temple visit. Check that it is open before you go.
From the Dongdaegu Station area, take Express Bus 1 and get off at the museum stop. The museum has its own lot. (Show a driver: 방짜유기박물관)
