Gatbawi Buddha 갓바위
Daegu · Palgongsan & Dongchon · Parks & nature
On the summit ridge of Mount Palgong sits a stone Buddha wearing a flat stone hat, a figure said to grant one wish to the sincere. The walk up is the main event: roughly an hour on stone steps, with steady climbing and crowds on weekends. Worshippers bring candles and mats.
The view from the top over the hills and the city is good on a clear day. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and avoid the climb in extreme heat or with small children or limited mobility. Entry is free, and it can get busy on holidays and exam season.
From the Dongdaegu Station area, take a local bus to the Gatbawi terminus; check route numbers as they change. A public lot sits at the foot of the trail. (Show a driver: 갓바위)
