At low tide on certain days each month, the sea draws back and exposes a causeway that locals say leads to the island of Seokdaedo. Visitors walk out along the seabed, collecting shellfish, watching crabs and taking photos of the open flats. The phenomenon depends on the lunar cycle, so the dates change every month.

There is a nearby hall that shows the schedule, and guides sometimes lead hands-on programs, which may require registration. It is a memorable experience for children and adults. Safety comes first: obey staff warnings and return before the tide turns.

Getting there

It starts from Muchangpo Beach, about 30 to 35 minutes by taxi from Daecheon Station. Check the tide schedule beforehand. (Show a driver: 무창포 신비의 바닷길)
