Jukdo Sanghwawon Garden 죽도 상화원
Boryeong · Muchangpo, Nampo & Jukdo · Sights
An entire small island is laid out as a Korean garden, and the highlight is a covered corridor of about two kilometers that wraps around the shore, so you can walk in the rain without an umbrella. Along the way you pass ponds, traditional hanok buildings and pavilions, and every turn frames the sea beside tiled eaves. A full circuit takes one and a half to two hours.
Admission is believed to be around 7,000 won, but fees and hours may change. Parking is limited and can be crowded on weekends, so arrive early. Benches and pavilions are plentiful.
From Daecheon Station drive or take a taxi, about 25 minutes; the garden is reached by a causeway along the Nampo seawall. (Show a driver: 죽도 상화원)
