Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) DDP 동대문디자인플라자
Seoul · Dongdaemun & Euljiro · Museums & exhibits
DDP, short for Dongdaemun Design Plaza, is a silver, curving building designed by Zaha Hadid that looks like a landed spaceship among the old fashion markets. You can walk around and through it for free, climbing ramps and rooftop lawns, while the interior holds exhibition halls, design shops and cafes. Exhibitions change often and carry separate fees, so check the schedule before you buy anything.
After dark the facade glows, and an LED rose garden of thousands of illuminated stems turns the plaza into a surreal evening stop. Hours and prices may change, and some halls close on certain days.
Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (동대문역사문화공원역), Lines 2, 4 and 5, Exit 1, leads directly to the plaza.
