Dongdaemun is where Seoul's fashion industry goes shopping, and its giant malls keep late hours. Buildings such as Doota and Migliore have dozens of floors of small shops with clothes, shoes, bags and accessories, many sold wholesale. Individual shops often have their own rules about trying on and returning goods, and prices may be fixed or negotiable.
Tax-free service is available in some larger stores, so ask at the counter. The area is crowded and fast-moving, so keep your bag zipped. Hours may change, and many shops close on certain days.
Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (동대문역사문화공원역), Lines 2, 4 and 5, has several exits to the malls.
