Samcheong-dong Cafe Street 삼청동 카페거리
Seoul · Jongno, Bukchon & Palaces · Cafe
Samcheong-dong is the relaxed lane that links Gyeongbokgung with Bukchon, lined with small galleries, boutiques, craft shops and cafes occupying converted hanok houses and brick buildings. The vibe is more neighborhood than trendy hotspot, and it works well as a rest stop between palace walks. Many cafes have rooftops or small courtyards where you can order a pot of tea or a pastry and watch people go past.
Some of the best views come from the hills behind the street, so try one of the side stairways if your legs are up to it. Hours vary by shop, and some places close one weekday.
Anguk Station (안국역), Line 3 Exit 1, then walk north along the palace wall for about fifteen minutes. A short taxi ride from Gyeongbokgung Station (경복궁역) is also easy.
