Bugak Skyway Palpaljeong Pavilion 북악팔각정

Seoul · Jongno, Bukchon & Palaces · Night view

Night viewNight viewsNature & parksPhoto spotsOutdoor

Palpaljeong is a pavilion on the ridge of Bugaksan, the mountain behind Gyeongbokgung, and the road to it, Bugak Skyway, is a favorite winding drive. The pavilion offers a broad view over the palaces and the center of the city, and a few cafes at the top add to the scenery. Because the road is narrow and buses are limited, a taxi or private car is the sensible way to go.

Visitors can also enjoy the view at sunset and watch the lights come on across the city. The road can be closed in bad weather, and parking is limited. Check conditions before you go, and prices and hours may change.

Getting there

Take a taxi from Gyeongbokgung Station (경복궁역), Line 3, or Anguk Station (안국역), about fifteen minutes. Ask for Palpaljeong (팔각정).

Local tip
Reach it by taxi, because buses are infrequent and the road is narrow. The view over the palaces and the city is the reward.
