Omokdae Pavilion 오목대

Jeonju · Hanok Village · Night view

Night viewNight viewsPhoto spotsHistory & palacesOutdoorPet-friendly

Omokdae is a modest wooden pavilion on a low hill, and its value is the view. From the railing you look down across a sea of curved gray rooftops, the whole Hanok Village spread below, with the cathedral spire poking up beyond. Local tradition links the spot to the founder of the Joseon dynasty, who is said to have celebrated here after a military victory, and the pavilion carries a stone marker explaining that history.

The climb is only a short flight of steps, so it suits most fitness levels, though elderly visitors may prefer to take their time. There is no admission charge.

Getting there

Walk up from the Hanok Village center along Taejo-ro; the stairs begin near the footbridge toward Jaman Mural Village. It is about ten minutes from Gyeonggijeon Shrine on foot. (Show a driver: 오목대)
