Pungnammun Gate 풍남문

Pungnammun is the south gate of the old walled city of Jeonju, a two-story wooden tower on a stone base that now sits on a traffic island. The wall that once surrounded the town has long since vanished, so this single gate is the main reminder of its scale. Cars drive around it, but visitors can look up at the tiled roof and read the explanation panel beside it.

Its hours are open-air and there is no charge. The gate is lit after dark, which turns it into a quick photo stop on the walk between the Hanok Village and the night stalls of Nambu Market.

Getting there

It stands at the southern edge of the Hanok Village, about five minutes' walk from Jeondong Catholic Cathedral. Nambu Market lies immediately south. (Show a driver: 풍남문)
