Jeonil Gabo 전일갑오
Jeonju · Gaekridan-gil & Downtown · Meal
Gamaek is Jeonju's slang for a convenience-store-style drinking spot, where cold bottled beer is paired with simple grilled snacks, and this is the most iconic address. The classic order is a bottle of beer plus grilled dried pollock or cuttlefish served with a tangy dipping sauce that regulars guard fiercely. There is no fine dining here, just plastic stools, paper-lined tables and a cheerful hum.
Go early in the evening to claim a seat before the rush, and expect the staff to speak little English. Cash and cards are usually both accepted, but prices can change, so look at the menu board.
It is in downtown Jeonju near Gaeksa, about 15 minutes on foot from the Hanok Village. Use a bus or taxi from Jeonju Station and show the Korean name. (Show a driver: 전일갑오)
