Gaekridan-gil is the nickname for the lanes behind Gaeksa, where old downtown shops have been replaced by cafes, bars, boutiques and vintage stores. The name echoes Gyeongnidan-gil, the trendy lane in Seoul's Itaewon, and the mood here is young, relaxed and locally flavored. Wander without a map, popping into tiny dessert shops and independent stores.

In the evening the atmosphere tilts toward drinks and lively restaurants, so it is a good place to finish a day that started in the Hanok Village. Small shops may prefer cards or mobile payment, and some close earlier on weekdays.

Getting there

It is a short walk from Pungpaejigwan (Gaeksa Hall) and the Jeolla Gamyeong, about 15 minutes from the Hanok Village. The area is easy to reach by city bus or taxi from Jeonju Station. (Show a driver: 객리단길)
