Kim Kwang-seok Street 김광석다시그리기길
Daegu · Jung-gu Old Downtown · Sights

A 350-meter lane beside Bangcheon Market is covered with murals honoring Kim Kwang-seok, the folk singer born in Daegu who died young in 1996. Painted portraits, guitar sculptures and lyrics line the walls, and a small stage sometimes hosts live music. Fans come in pilgrimage-style, but you do not need to know his songs to enjoy the walk, since the walls also show scenes of neighborhood life.
Cafes and craft shops have moved in along the street, and the nearby market still sells everyday goods. Wear walking shoes, since the lane is uneven in places. The route is short, so spend your time lingering and taking photos.
Walk about seven minutes from exit 3 of Gyeongdae Hospital Station on Subway Line 2. Bangcheon Market has public parking right at the lane's edge. (Show a driver: 김광석다시그리기길)
