Seomun Market 서문시장
Daegu · Jung-gu Old Downtown · Shopping
Founded in the Joseon period, this vast covered market is one of the three biggest traditional markets in the country. Rows of fabric stalls, bedding shops and clothing wholesalers fill the upper floors, while the ground-level food lane is where visitors spend most of their time. Try napjak mandu, flat griddled dumplings eaten with spicy sauce, plus handmade kalguksu noodles, tteokbokki and bean-sprout rice.
The crowd is a mix of grandmothers shopping for cloth and young people hunting for snacks. Small food stalls prefer cash, and many close by early evening. Arrive hungry and expect to eat at a counter.
Subway Line 3 stops at Seomun Market Station, which connects almost directly to the market. Drivers can use the underground lot at Zone 2 or the public market lot. (Show a driver: 서문시장)
