Daegu Modern History Museum 대구근대역사관
Daegu · Jung-gu Old Downtown · Museums & exhibits

Housed in a 1932 stone building that once served as a colonial-era bank branch, this city museum tells how Daegu changed from a walled Joseon town into a modern industrial city. Period photographs, scale models and short videos cover the demolition of the old city wall, the arrival of railways, the textile boom and everyday life. Labels are Korean with some English.
Admission has been free in recent years, so it is an easy rainy-day fallback. The adjacent Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park, the former provincial governor's compound, is a pleasant place to sit afterward.
Walk about seven minutes from Jungangno Station on Subway Line 1, heading toward Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park. The park's public lot is the easiest option for drivers. (Show a driver: 대구근대역사관)
