This national museum covers the prehistory and traditional culture of Daegu and the surrounding Gyeongsang region, with rooms of ancient pottery, Buddhist art and traditional clothing and textiles. The permanent exhibits are generally free, and there is a separate children's museum with hands-on rooms. The building is spacious and air-conditioned, so it makes a smart summer or rainy-day pick.

English labels exist for the main pieces, and audio guides may be available. Plan roughly ninety minutes for the main halls. Special exhibitions may cost extra, and the museum is usually closed on Mondays.

Getting there

From Beomeo Station on Subway Line 2, change to a local bus and get off at the museum stop; the grounds have a large lot. (Show a driver: 국립대구박물관)
