Gukil Ttaro Gukbap 국일따로국밥
Daegu · Jung-gu Old Downtown · Meal
This long-running soup house serves Daegu's own take on beef-blood soup, called ttaro gukbap, meaning rice and soup served separately. A big bowl of clear but spicy broth arrives with beef, radish and chunks of congealed blood, while the rice comes on the side so you can add as much as you like. Locals eat it as a hangover cure and as a warming winter meal.
The room is no-frills, with fast service and low prices. If you dislike organ meats, ask staff if you can skip the blood; menus are Korean only, so point at the photo or use a translation app. It is a rare dish for visitors elsewhere in Korea.
Walk about two minutes from exit 4 of Jungangno Station on Subway Line 1. There is no dedicated lot, so use the public lot at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park. (Show a driver: 국일따로국밥)
