Dongseongno Shopping Street 동성로
Daegu · Jung-gu Old Downtown · Sights

Daegu's busiest downtown district runs north to south between Daegu Station and Banwoldang, a tight grid of department stores, street-fashion shops, cinemas, arcades and snack bars. Locals say that when Daegu people make plans, the default meeting point is Dongseongno. A plaza in the middle often hosts buskers on weekends, and the side lanes hide old tteokbokki shops next to new dessert cafes.
Nothing here is a monument, so treat it as a living-city stroll: browse Korean cosmetics and clothes in the afternoon, then let the neon come on and pick a late snack. Prices vary shop by shop, and many stores stay open past 9 pm.
From Dongdaegu Station take Subway Line 1 to Jungangno Station or Banwoldang Station (about 20 minutes); both exits put you straight into the street. Weekend traffic is heavy, so skip the car. (Show a driver: 동성로)
