Sin Daegwallyeong Kodari-jjim 신대관령코다리찜

Suncheon · Old Downtown, Drama Set & New Town · Meal

MealFood & marketsIndoor

Kodari is semi-dried pollack, and in this dish it is steamed with bean sprouts and plenty of red chili sauce, then brought to the table on a large platter. The fish is chewy and firm, a little like jerky in texture but much more tender, and it soaks up the sweet and spicy sauce. Rice and several side dishes come with it, and a plate serves two or three people, so it works well for groups.

The spice level can be high, but the kitchen can often tone it down if you ask when ordering. Prices run in the range of fifteen to twenty thousand won per person and may change. Wash it down with water or a cold barley tea.
