Araetjang Market 아랫장
Suncheon · Old Downtown, Drama Set & New Town · Shopping
Araetjang is the lower market, set close to Suncheon Station, so it is a handy browse before or after a train. Its stalls sell seasonal vegetables, dried fish, spices and side dishes, and you may spot regional products such as cockles and preserved seafood. It runs on a permanent basis, so you do not need to match a market day.
The scale is modest and the lanes are narrow, making it a quick visit of 30 to 50 minutes. Vendors are used to locals, so little English is spoken, but price tags are common and a smile covers the rest. Food stalls cook simple dishes, and cash is easiest.
It is a practical stop if you want snacks for the road.
A short walk or taxi ride from Suncheon Station, on the same side of the old town. (Show a driver: 아랫장)
