Utjang Gamasot Gukbap 웃장가마솥국밥
Suncheon · Old Downtown, Drama Set & New Town · Meal
Gukbap means rice in soup, and this shop serves it out of big iron cauldrons that simmer at the front of the dining room. The broth is milky and mild, and the bowl comes with plenty of pork, a bit of rice and seasoning on the side so you can adjust the flavor. Add chives, salted shrimp or chili paste from the table to taste.
It opens early, making it a convenient breakfast after an overnight train. Service is quick and no-frills, and menus are usually just a few items. Vegetarians will find little here, as the stock is meat-based.
Inside the Utjang Market area, a short taxi ride or around a 20-minute walk from Suncheon Station. (Show a driver: 웃장가마솥국밥)
