Suncheon Hyanggyo 순천향교
Suncheon · Old Downtown, Drama Set & New Town · Sights

A hyanggyo was a state-run local school during the Joseon dynasty, where students studied Confucian texts and performed ritual ceremonies. Suncheon's example sits on a gentle slope at the foot of a small hill, behind old alleys, so few tourists wander in. You can walk through the front gate, look around the lecture hall and the shrine buildings, and sit on the veranda in near silence.
Old trees give shade, and in autumn the leaves turn color. Interpretation signs are mostly in Korean, so a translation app helps. There is no ticket office and no pressure, and the visit takes less than an hour.
About a 15-minute walk from Suncheon Station on foot or a short taxi ride. Street parking is limited. (Show a driver: 순천향교)
