Sokcho Silhyangmin Culture Village 속초실향민문화촌
Sokcho · Seoraksan & Nohak-dong · Museums & exhibits
After the Korean War, thousands of people from the northern half of the peninsula were stranded in Sokcho, and this small museum explains how they rebuilt their lives. Rooms recreate a refugee home, a ration queue and daily tools, and there are old photographs and personal belongings. English labeling can be limited, so a translation app helps with panels.
The museum is not large, so an hour is enough, and it pairs naturally with a visit to Abai Village, where many of those families settled. Check the schedule ahead because it is closed on Mondays, and hours may vary on public holidays. Admission is reportedly free.
Take a local bus toward Sokcho city museum from the bus terminals, or ride a taxi in about 10 minutes. Parking is available on site. (Show a driver: 속초실향민문화촌)
