Seoraksan Cable Car 설악산케이블카
Sokcho · Seoraksan & Nohak-dong · Fun & activities
This is the easiest way to see the high granite ridges without a long climb. The gondola rises in roughly five minutes to a platform below Gwongeumseong, and from there a short stair path leads to the old mountain fortress ruins and wide views toward the sea. On clear days you can see Ulsanbawi, the jagged range and even the coastline far below.
The upper path has steep steps, so wear grippy shoes and bring a windproof layer, because it is much colder up there. Cable cars stop in strong wind, snow or fog, which makes the view uncertain, so check the status at the ticket office. Hours may change.
Take local bus 7 or 7-1 from Sokcho to the Seoraksan entrance (설악산소공원) and walk about 10 minutes to the lower station. By taxi it is roughly 25 minutes from downtown. (Show a driver: 설악산케이블카)
