Hannam-dong is a stylish residential area just east of Itaewon, where quiet lanes hide fashion boutiques, design shops, bakeries and small galleries. The mood is calmer and more upscale than Itaewon, and the cafes spill onto terraces at the first hint of sun. Several major art museums and gallery spaces lie nearby, so you can browse a boutique, stop for a pastry, and step into an exhibition in a single afternoon.

Many shops open in the late morning, and some close on one day a week. English is commonly spoken by staff, and cards are accepted. Prices tend to be higher than in other neighborhoods.

Check opening hours, as they may change.

Getting there

Hangangjin Station (한강진역), Line 6, Exit 1 or 3, is the usual entry. From there, walk down the main street into the side lanes.
