Itaewon and Gyeongnidan-gil 이태원·경리단길
Seoul · Yongsan, Itaewon & Hannam · Sights
Itaewon has been Seoul's international district for decades, and the streets here offer food from around the world, from Turkish kebabs and Indian curries to Mexican, Thai and craft-beer pubs. Walk up the hill and you reach Gyeongnidan-gil, a sloping lane of independent restaurants and rooftop bars that is quieter than the main street. English is widely spoken in shops and restaurants, which makes it an easy place for a first evening in Korea.
The area becomes livelier after dark, with music, bars and clubs. Hours and the mix of places may change, and some venues close on certain days.
Itaewon Station (이태원역), Line 6, Exit 1, leads to the main street. Noksapyeong Station (녹사평역), Line 6, is closer to Gyeongnidan-gil.
