Jeonju Traditional Liquor Museum 전주전통술박물관
Jeonju · Hanok Village · Museums & exhibits
This small museum explains the world of Korean traditional liquor, with a focus on the home-brewed rice wines that Jeonju is known for. Exhibits cover the ingredients, fermentation vessels and drinking customs, and an adult tasting corner lets you try a few traditional drinks for a modest fee or sometimes free of charge, though check on site. Entrance has been free in recent years and the museum is closed on Mondays.
Allow about 45 minutes, which makes it a handy stop between the lanes and the evening, and a smart way to learn the vocabulary before visiting a makgeolli bar. Panels are mostly in Korean, so ask about an English guide sheet.
The museum stands within the Hanok Village, a short walk from Jeondong Catholic Cathedral. A city bus or taxi to the Hanok Village brings you within a few minutes. (Show a driver: 전주전통술박물관)
