Songgwangsa Temple 송광사
Jeonju · Wanju Day Trips: Soyang & Samnye · Sights
Songgwangsa is a large temple on flat land, which makes it unusually easy to explore for visitors who prefer gentle walking. The approach road is lined with cherry trees, and in April the blossoms form a tunnel. The temple has a bell pavilion, main halls and a quiet courtyard.
Entry has been low or free but may change, so check at the gate. Allow about 50 minutes, and dress modestly. Information is mostly in Korean, but the grounds are easy to follow.
The temple is in Wanju, about 40 minutes from Jeonju by car or taxi. Buses run from Jeonju but infrequently, so check times with your hotel. (Show a driver: 송광사)
