Wibongsanseong Fortress & Wibong Falls 위봉산성·위봉폭포
Jeonju · Wanju Day Trips: Soyang & Samnye · Parks & nature
Wibongsanseong is a Joseon-era mountain fortress, with a gate and wall paths running through woodland. A couple of gates survive and the trail gives views over green valleys. Five minutes by car, Wibong Falls drops in two steps and looks best after rain, when the water is full.
Wear sturdy shoes, as paths are uneven. Entry has been free. The site is remote, so a car or taxi is practical.
Bring water and watch for weather. Leave extra time for the drive between the two stops, and check in advance whether the paths are open, as mountain trails can close after heavy rain or snow in winter.
The fortress is in Wanju, about 50 minutes from Jeonju by car or taxi. Public transport is very limited, so arrange a driver. (Show a driver: 위봉산성·위봉폭포)
