Samcheon-dong Makgeolli Alley 삼천동 막걸리골목
Jeonju · Seohak-dong, Jeonju Stream & Hyoja · Meal
Samcheon-dong Makgeolli Alley is a cluster of makgeolli bars where the local custom is generous: order a kettle of the milky rice wine and a full table of side dishes arrives with it, and refills of the kettle bring more food. Dishes include fried fish, grilled meats, savory pancakes, stews and seasonal side dishes. It is best for groups of two to four, and the atmosphere is convivial and noisy.
Costs are mid-range, and prices may change. Staff may speak little English, so use pointing and gestures. Taxis are the easiest way to get there and back.
The alley is in the Samcheon-dong area of Jeonju, about 15 to 20 minutes from the Hanok Village by taxi. Show a driver the Korean name and arrange the return ride. (Show a driver: 삼천동 막걸리골목)
