Jo Jeom-rye Namun Piseundae 조점례남문피순대
Jeonju · Hanok Village · Meal
Blood sausage, or pi-sundae, is the local specialty in Nambu Market, made from pork blood, glutinous rice and vegetables stuffed into a casing. This restaurant is among the best known for it. The simplest order is a bowl of sausage soup served with rice, with chopped chives and a spoonful of seasoned paste you stir in to taste.
For a bigger meal, add a plate of sliced sausage and share it, dipping pieces in salt or chili. It is hearty and slightly rustic, and the flavor is mild rather than gamey. Menus are mostly Korean, so point at what other tables are eating if staff speak little English.
The restaurant is inside Nambu Market, a five-minute walk from Pungnammun Gate. From Jeonju Station, take a bus or taxi to the Hanok Village and walk south. (Show a driver: 조점례남문피순대)
