Hankookjib (Jeonju Bibimbap) 한국집
Jeonju · Hanok Village · Meal
Hankookjib is one of the old-guard bibimbap restaurants that built Jeonju's reputation for this dish, serving it since the 1950s. The famous version here is bibimbap topped with raw beef, or yukhoe, over rice with an array of seasonal vegetables and a dollop of red pepper paste. Staff will often mix it for you or show you how, so do not be shy about asking.
The rice is tinted by the beef broth it is cooked in, which is a hallmark of the Jeonju style. Lunch queues are common, so go earlier or later, and note that prices are mid-range and may change. Check on site whether the menu has pictures or English descriptions.
The restaurant is in central Jeonju, a short taxi ride from the Hanok Village; ask your hotel to call a taxi, or show the Korean name. A city bus to the Hanok Village will get you close. (Show a driver: 한국집)
