Seongeup Folk Village 성읍민속마을

Jeju · Seongeup & Gyorae · Sights

SightsHistory & palacesPhoto spotsOutdoor

A preserved village where residents still live in thatched-roof houses, surrounded by stone walls, old zelkova trees and the remains of a fortress wall that once guarded the area. The streets are narrow and quiet, and signs describe traditional Jeju life, from the stone grandfather statues to the old magistrate's compound. Because people live here, be considerate when taking photos and avoid entering private yards.

Free guided walks may be offered at set times. Small shops sell local crafts and snacks. Entry is free, and the village is a gentle walk of about an hour.

Getting there

It is about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport, with a parking lot near the entrance. Buses reach Seongeup from Seogwipo and Jeju City, but frequency is low. (Show a driver: 성읍민속마을)
