A short walk upstream from the academy, this historic house and small riverside pavilion belonged to a scholar who retreated here from official life. The pavilion sits over rushing water, and sitting on its wooden floor with the stream below is the point. It is a gentle path of about 15 minutes, and a visit takes about 40 minutes.

Free to enter. Rules on entering the house interior may apply, so follow posted signs. Summer greenery and autumn leaves are both attractive.

Late-afternoon light across the floor is lovely.
