SightsHistory & palacesNature & parksOutdoor

Set beside a clear stream, this scholarly academy dates to the Joseon period and honors a revered Confucian thinker. Wooden halls sit behind a gate in a quiet valley, and a flat boulder by the stream, Sesimdae, invites you to sit and dip your feet in warm weather. In autumn, red leaves reflect in the water.

Entry is free or very cheap, and it may change. Ask on site about English information. Public transport is awkward, requiring a change at Angang, so use a taxi or car.

It takes about an hour.
