Yangdong Folk Village 양동마을
Gyeongju · Northern Outskirts · Sights
Old clans have lived here for about five hundred years, and this village of tiled and thatched houses, a UNESCO World Heritage site, climbs a hillside. Families still live here, so keep voices low and respect private gates. Lanes lead up to scenic lookouts, and a viewpoint toward the fields glows at sunset.
A fee is charged and may change, and the visitor center is the place to ask about English maps. Two hours is a good allowance, and the steady climb needs comfortable shoes. Autumn ginkgo leaves are a highlight.
Bring cash for small village shops, since not all take cards.
Take bus line 200 series toward Angang, about 50 minutes, to the Yangdong Village stop; confirm on site. Parking at the village entrance. (Show a driver: 양동마을)
