Munmu Daewang Tomb (Daewangam) 문무대왕릉
Gyeongju · East Coast & Gampo · Parks & nature
A rocky islet just offshore is said to hold the underwater burial site of King Munmu, who wished to guard the coast as a dragon after his death. Visitors view it from the beach, where waves crash around the rock and the horizon opens wide. Sunrise draws photographers and locals, so staying overnight and arriving before dawn rewards you.
There is no entrance fee, and parking at Bonggil Beach is free. Naver Map can find it from the Korean name. In summer the sand fills with families, while winter brings big surf and quiet.
Wear a windproof layer, since the shore is exposed.
