Gyeongju Hwanggeum Sibwon Bread (Gold 10-Won Coin Bread) 경주 황금십원빵

CafeCafes & vibesPhoto spotsOutdoor

Shaped like the old 10-won coin that carries the Dabotap pagoda, this cheese-filled bread is a street snack made for strolling. The shop presses a golden, round pastry with a stretchy cheese center, which is at its best when eaten hot. It is aimed at light snacking rather than a meal, so share one between two if you plan to eat at the cafes afterward.

Prices are low, but they may change, and the line moves quickly. You can point at the photos to order, and small shops in this area often accept both cards and cash. Eat it right away, because the cheese hardens as it cools.

Be careful when you take the first bite, as the filling is very hot.

Getting there

It is on Hwangnidan-gil, about 3 minutes from the Daereungwon stop. Use a public parking lot in Hwangnidan-gil. (Show a driver: 경주 황금십원빵)
