Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond 동궁과 월지
Gyeongju · Daereungwon, Hwangnidan-gil & Downtown · Night view
A royal pleasure garden from the Silla court, this complex centers on an artificial pond where pavilions are reflected in the still water. By day it is pleasant but plain; after sunset the lights turn the buildings gold and the reflections draw crowds. Arrive about half an hour before dusk, so you can watch the sky change from blue to indigo, then walk the loop path at a slow pace.
The usual photo spot is on the west side. A small ticket fee applies and may change, and the closing time shifts with the season, so check before you go.
It is a 10-minute walk from Cheomseongdae Observatory, or take a city bus to the Donggung Palace and Wolji stop. A dedicated lot often fills on weekend evenings, so consider a taxi back. (Show a driver: 동궁과 월지)
