Gapsa Temple 갑사
Gongju · Gyeryongsan: Gapsa & Donghaksa · Sights

A temple on the western slope of Gyeryongsan, famous for autumn colors, to the point that a saying ranks it first among Korea's autumn temples. A long stretch of woodland trail runs from the gate to the main courtyard, and the walk alone is half the pleasure. The buildings are old and quietly grand, and monks still practice here.
The temple is not on the World Heritage list, but few visitors mind. In autumn weekends the road and parking fill early. Admission is free or low, and parking may cost a fee.
Set aside around ninety minutes in total.
There is a bus from Gongju, but frequency is low, so a taxi (about 35 minutes) or rental car works best. A parking lot sits at the entrance. (Show a driver: 갑사)
