Yongchu Valley 용추계곡

Parks & natureNature & parksOutdoorPet-friendly

A mountain stream tumbling over smooth rocks and small pools, Yongchu Valley is one of the classic places to cool off in Gapyeong in July and August. Families wade in the shallows, and in other seasons the valley road is quiet enough for an easy walk under the trees. Riverside restaurants offer seating over the water; arrangements and fees for tables vary by place, so ask before sitting down.

After heavy rain the current strengthens quickly, so stay out of the water and follow any local warnings. Dogs on a leash are generally fine on the outer paths.

Getting there

From Gapyeong town, drive about 15 minutes up the valley road; there is a public lot at the entrance. Buses are infrequent, so a taxi or car is practical. (Show a driver: 용추계곡)
