A rural market held every five days in the town of Hyeonri, where local people buy fresh vegetables, mountain greens, dried fish and other regional goods in a plain, unpolished setting. It is not aimed at tourists, which is exactly the appeal: you see how the community really shops, and snacks and produce are cheap. Market days differ from those at the market in Gapyeong town, so you cannot easily visit both on one day; check the dates and visit each on a different day.
Cash is the easiest way to pay. Go in the morning, when the full range of goods is on display.
