On the ground floor of the fisheries building, this restaurant sells live snow crab that is steamed on request. You pick your crab from the tank, the staff weigh it, and it is cooked fresh in a few minutes. The meat is sweet and the paste in the shell is rich.
A rice bowl finishes the meal. Prices rise with the size of the crab and the season, so ask about both the weight price and the steaming fee. Groups of three or more get the best value.
Reservation may be needed at weekends.
Getting there
It is beside Jumunjin Fish Market. From Gangneung take a bus to Jumunjin (주문진), about 40 minutes, then walk.
